Mount Saint Vincent University, Department of Child and Youth Study, offers professional development workshops and training opportunities to individuals currently working in the field of early childhood education.

These opportunities are made possible through the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Agreement on Early Childhood Development coordinated by the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services.

Fall 2010 Workshops

This fall we welcome author & international speaker, Diane Levin, PhD,  who will be presenting  an evening early childhood and parent community keynote talk  "So  Sexy So Soon:  The New Sexualized Childhood and What We Can Do About It", as well as a  & full day workshop "Remote Control Childhood:  Combating the Hazards of Media & Commercial Culture on Young Children’s Development, Play & Learning".  

Other workshops being offered include:

The Promoting Positive Behaviour in Child Care Settings series (offered week nights),

Sharing Nature® with children,

Child/Youth Mental Health 101:What you need to know to support challenging children & youth,

Practical tools & resources for child care centre menus,
