Business & Tourism Job Coaching
A new opportunity has been created for students who are planning to graduate in 2012, or beyond. A Job Club has been established to help students who are serious about landing a job in their field. Students are reminded that employers hiring spring grads will post jobs in the fall, not the winter. Student members will apply to posted jobs and receive professional help with all aspects of the job search, from developing winning resumes and cover letters, through to managing the interview itself.  The club will meet regularly throughout the year.

Career Week
The Mount will participate in two Career Weeks: October 31-November 4 for the fall term, and March 5 to 9 for the winter term. Each career week will involve panels of industry experts, CEOs and career professionals from varous sectors: accounting and finance, tourism and hospitality management, management and human resources. Students have an opportunity to speak to professionals and recruiters in their area of business. In addition, workshops relevant to job search and career success will be held. This event will be held on campus.

Caritas Day
Caritas Day is a class holiday at the Mount. The purpose of Caritas Day, which was started years ago by the Mount's founders, the Sisters of Charity, is to allow students and faculty an opportunity to give back to the community. In January, 2011, the Department of Business and Tourism launched its inaugural Caritas Day Food Drive. The drive was very successful in bringing food from the local area into the university's food bank, with enough left over to contribute to other food banks throughout the area. January 25, 2012 will be the second food drive event.  Plan to take part in this important service initiative and mark your calendars.

The Mount’s Business Administration program rated tops in quality of education and career preparation

The results were captured in the 2011 Canadian University Report, which is published by the Globe and Mail. They were based on the responses of business and commerce undergrad students, and in comparison to similarly-sized universities. View report »

According to the 2010 AAU report, 90% of first- and second-year Business Administration students and 87% of first- and second-year Tourism and Hospitality Management students went on to enrol in another year of study. These were the highest rates compared to other Atlantic Canadian universities.
