Mission
To provide the Mount Community (students, faculty, staff and neighbours) with access to a safe, welcoming, and sustainably managed garden for food, education, and recreation. The garden’s focus is on Education, Food Security, Campus Beautification, Community Building, Physical Therapy, and Sustainability.
What is the MSVU Community Garden?
The MSVU Community Garden was established in October 2009. It provides MSVU with a unique opportunity to further increase hands-on learning opportunities and increase its presence as a leader in the community by becoming a role model of community gardening and modeling a healthy, active, socially and environmentally conscious lifestyle on campus. The garden is open to the students, faculty, and staff of Mount Saint Vincent University as well as all interested individuals and organizations of the surrounding community. Our organic garden includes plots for individuals and organizations, as well as communal educational and demonstration plots. A plot will be dedicated to the campus Food Resource Centre.
Location
The garden is located in raised beds in the large meadow next to the President’s House. Indoor sites of potted herbs and vegetables are in Rosaria next to the Student Union offices and in the Crow’s Nest.
