Internship Education Program Eligibility

Undergraduate:

1. The student applicant and the Intern must be enrolled as a full time student in the BScAHN (Dietetics). The MSVU Academic Calendar defines full time student status for Undergraduate Programs as enrolled in three or more units of credit during the September to April academic year.

 

2. Undergraduate students may apply in the fall semester of their third year in the BScAHN (Dietetics) after the completion of at least 10 units of study. Prior to the Level I Internship Education Program course the Intern shall normally have completed required 3000 level BScAHN (Dietetics) courses, and all prerequisites of these courses, as listed in the MSVU Academic Calendar for Undergraduate Programs.

 

3. The student applicant must have a cumulative GPA of ≥2.7 over BScAHN (Dietetics) courses and achieved a passing grade in each of these courses, to be eligible to apply for the Internship Education Program.

 

4. Admission to the undergraduate Program will be conditional pending spring term final grade results, which must meet Program grade requirements stated in procedure 3, above.

 

5. The Intern must maintain a cumulative GPA of ≥2.7 over BScAHN (Dietetics) courses and achieved a passing grade in each of these courses, to maintain their status in the Program.

 

6. Students are required to submit full application packages to the Internship Education Program Office administrative assistant by the specified deadlines as detailed in the MSVU Academic Calendar and elaborated in the following Internship Education Program Policy and Procedure sections.

Graduate:

1. Graduate students may apply to the Internship Education Program along with their MScAHN application. Refer to the MSVU Academic Calendar for Graduate Programs for admission and application requirements. Also refer to the following Internship Education Program Policy and Procedure sections.

2. Graduate students in the Internship Education Program must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of ≥ 3.0 over MScAHN courses and achieved a passing grade in each of these courses, to be eligible for the Program and to maintain their status in the Program.

3. Graduate students in the Internship program must maintain academic currency in order to be well prepared for all their internship rotations and the dietetic registration examination. Therefore, interns are required to engage in academic upgrading if it has been more than three years since they have completed course work in a particular knowledge area.
