IEP Application Process

Undergraduate:

 

1. Eligible students interested in applying for the Internship Education Program may pci up application packages in November.

 

2. The Internship Coordinator accepts applications on or prior to December 15. Students are responsible for submitting their entire application package to the Internship Office on or before to this date. Reference letters must be returned sealed with a signature. All materials are to be presented in a binder with page protectors.

 

Application packages must include the following:

• Signed Internship Education Program Formal Application Form.

• References (one professional and one employment).  References (professional, employment and faculty) must be written by different individuals or the selection committee will consider only one.

• Two copies of current resume

• Course requirement sheet

• Official transcripts from MSVU and all other post-secondary organizations attended

• Completed Health Screening Form (Immunization Record)

 

Note: Students must also request that Fall term transcripts be forwarded to the Internship Office early in January.

 

3. Faculty may conduct information interviews with applicants in early January prior to preparing the faculty references.

 

4. All applicants must complete a written challenge exam on the specified date indicated in the application packages (early January). Applicants will have one hour to respond in writing to four to six questions. Questions will be situational and deal with personal and professional issues related to Dietetic Internship. Sample questions from previous years will be posted prior to the exam date.

Graduate:

1. Eligible students interested in the Internship Education Program may apply for the Program when applying for the MScAHN Program, or once accepted into the MScAHN Program.

2. Students must complete a Graduate Studies Application plus Supplementary Materials available on-line or in PDF format from the MSVU Admissions Office web site or by contacting the MSVU Admissions Office directly. The Supplementary Materials include a Letter of Intent and references. References (professional, employment and faculty) must be written by different individuals or the selection committee will consider only one.

3. Applicants to the Internship Education Program selected by the Department Graduate Program Committee (DGPC) for the MScAHN will be interviewed, in person or by conference call, by a sub committee of the DGPC including the Internship Coordinator. Interview questions will be situational and deal with personal and professional issues related to Dietetic Internship. Sample questions from previous years will be posted on the Internship Education Program Bulletin Board. Applicants at a distance may contact the Internship Coordinator to be sent these sample questions.

4. Applicants will sign and return an Internship Education Program Formal Application Form. This is to ensure applicants are aware of and accept the requirements of the Program. Applicants will also be required to submit a completed Health Screening Form (Immunization Record).

Academic Performance
All required courses for the degree, including free and prescribed discipline electives are evaluated in the student's application package.
