Welcome to 2018 fall term

As you begin a new term at the Mount, it is important to be ready for your online courses and prepared for this unique educational experience.  The 2018 fall term begins on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 and access to your Moodle course site will be available on this date.  The Teaching and Learning Centre and Online Learning Department ensures the successful delivery of online and campus courses.  Below you will find useful information to assist you.

Mount Online Learning Platform

Moodle is the Mount's Learning Management System used in the delivery of both on-campus and online courses. 

Blackboard Collaborate is our virtual classroom software for online classes.  To practice using Blackboard Collaborate before you class begins, and to test your audio/video settings on your computer, click here.  If you need assistance downloading the Collaborate launcher when you try the practice session, click here.  Please visit Student Resource Information to learn all about Moodle and Blackboard Collaborate, the Mount’s virtual classroom platform. 

IT Services and User Support for Moodle and Blackboard Collaborate

IT Services in EMF (Help Desk) is your one stop for technical support for all campus technologies, including Moodle and Blackboard Collaborate.  Contact the Help Desk for:

  • Office 365 - Accessing Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Skype for business and more
  • MyMount - Passwords, email, wireless, internet, printing and more
  • Network & Communications - Telephone system, network and wireless internet support campus computers, data storage and more
  • Web Systems - Colleague, Informer, WebAdvisor, OneWeb and more
  • Moodle and Collaborate - logging into Moodle, accessing your Moodle course sites, joining a Blackboard Collaborate session and other Moodle and Collaborate questions


Students located more than 100 km from campus, are required to arrange an approved proctor for midterm and final examinations within the first two weeks of term.  Review the Exam Information webpage to learn more or email msvu.ca.

myMount Student Portal 

Use myMount to view your financial account activity/statement, access Moodle course sites, read Mount news and events, access Office 365 and more.  

Course Textbooks and Materials 

All course materials for online courses are purchased from the Mount’s Online Bookstore.  If this is your first time accessing the Online Bookstore, you will need to create a new account.  If we are to ship your course related materials (textbooks and headsets), use your Visa or MasterCard to order your supplies. If you are picking up materials you have ordered from our online bookstore, you can pay when you come in to pick up your order at the campus bookstore in the Rosaria Student Centre.   

Important Information about Evening and Weekend Technical Support 

Please note that only urgent requests will be responded to during the evenings and weekends.  Urgent requests are when you are not able to participate in a class that same evening (after 8:00 pm) or weekend.  If you have an urgent request, please call the campus switchboard at 902-457-6788 and explain if you are not able to participate in a class and the campus switchboard operator will forward your request to the appropriate technical support person who will address the issue.  Only urgent requests will be responded to immediately, and others will be responded to the next business day.
