Masters Programs in Public Relations
"Balancing life, work and school can be a challenge. So,
returning to university after a decade was not an easy
decision. Making it more difficult was trying to figure out how
I could manage a traditional school schedule given that my
work, as the owner of a communications consulting
company, takes me overseas at least once or twice a month.
The Mount's Distance Learning gave me the freedom to
manage my academic schedule in a way that worked with
my hectic lifestyle and the challenge of being in a different
time zone. The best part of the program has been the design
of distance learning classes and tools. They have allowed
me to complete group work and presentations, engage in
class discussions, take part in live online classes and
interact with my professors. It is like having a cyber
classroom that I can access from my computer or
Smartphone and take with me to any country that I am
working in. Despite the fact that I have never met many of my
professors or my fellow classmates in person distance learning at the Mount has allowed me to feel like I am part of a community of learners.
Returning to the Mount to complete my MA (PR) was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. It never would have been possible without distance learning graduate courses."
Hope Carr, Master of Arts (Public Relations)
"I have a degree in Business Administration and yet I find myself regularly working on projects that have a large communications component. The MPR program gave me the opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills in public relations practice while opening up my leadership potential."
Heather Hanson, Manager, Communications (Class of '11)
"As a manager of public relations with a large Canadian corporation, I have found the graduate courses at the Mount have given me a new perspective on how to manage communications within my organization. I've also developed a deeper understanding of various cultural and symbolic media and their impacts."
