The Mount is now well underway with its celebration of the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day. On Saturday, the Mount hosted the launch of "Women Making Waves," a weekend conference organized by Women in Film & Television, hilighting the talents of women film makers in the Atlantic Region.
On Sunday, the Mount hosted a Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of its Nancy's Chair in Women's Studies, with the Honourable Senator Nancy Ruth as its special guest. The Mount was thrilled to also have with us three past Nancy's Chairs including 6th Nancy’s Chair and Women’s Historian, Dr. Margaret Conrad, 7th Nancy’s Chair and activist Sharon Batt, and 8th Nancy’s Chair and Film Maker, Sylvia Hamilton. 4:30 “Smoked Glass Ceiling,” a one-woman theatre piece written and performed by Rita Shelton Deverell, Nancy's Chair in Women Studies at the Mount. Said the Winnipeg Free Press: "In this show, we're taken on a journey throught Deverell's Childhood experiences in the American South. We also get a glimpse into her emigration to Canada and the founding of Vision TV. A fine production."

7 p.m.-- Jan Zwicky Lecture, the Mount, Seton Auditorium. Books available for purchase. A reception will following the lecture. All welcome.
