If you are interested in challenging classes, which are small enough for active debate and discussion, and which address the vital issues of the day, then we invite you to browse our courses in the three distinct programs we offer. Our Canadian Studies program is broadly interdisciplinary, drawing upon the resources of many disciplines at this university to enable students to tailor their studies to their particular interests. Our Political Studies program has been recently redesigned to extend our commitment to international affairs, at a time when world politics plays an ever-larger role in our daily lives. It also allows students to concentrate in the areas of Canadian politics and political theory, two perennially significant areas of interest for our students. Of course, it is more and more the case that all these areas overlap to a greater extent than ever before, whether we are looking at multiculturalism, the world population problem, the distribution of resources, or the role of violence domestically and in the international arena.
We are pleased to note our newest program, which we have designed jointly with the Department of Economics, an undergraduate degree in Public Policy Studies. It is an interdisciplinary four-year program, which has been designed to engage our students in understanding the most complex issues that our society must address, and prepare students for rewarding career opportunities in the public service and/or non-governmental organizations.
In each of our programs, you will find the commitment to personalized education which our students find so appealing, and a commitment to the values that have shaped this institution - social responsibility, ethical concern and service to the community.
Thank you for your interest in our Department. For details about our policies and admission requirements for Majors, Advanced Majors, or Minors, please refer to the current Academic Calendar. For our current course offerings, please review the listings in the tentative timetable under the Registrar’s page. If you need further details or any other information, please feel free to contact me or any other faculty member, or our Departmental Secretary.
Sincerely,
