Saint Petersburg State University (SPSU) is one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious universities in Russia. SPSU is situated in the historical centre of the city of Saint Petersburg close to the famous architectural monuments. Saint Petersburg is the former capital city of the Russian Empire for over 200 years.
The city's unique history is reflected in its 18th-19th century avenues, palaces and parks, which are a combination of different architectural styles. The city is sometimes referred to as 'a symphony in stone'.
LanguagesForeign exchange students are provided with free-of-charge Russian language courses in a volume of 8 hours per week. Additional courses and complex Russian as Foreign Language test could be taken for a fee at the Faculty of Philology and Arts.
Faculty of Public Relations and JournalismThe Faculty of Journalism is one of the country's leading centers for training journalists and specialists in mass media. Educational facilities include photography studios, a laboratory of computer-aided journalism and audio-visual teaching aids, a training television studio, and a television (Mastery class).

VISACanadian students who are planning to study in Russian Federation should obtain a student's VISA and applicants planning to stay in Russia for more than 3 months (work or study) must submit HIV test Certificate issued not earlier than 3 months before the VISA application.
