The Mount offers two possibilities for students interested in participating in an academic exchange in Korea: Ewha  University and Korea University, both located in the bustling city of Seoul.


Ewha UniversityEwha University was originally founded as the first educational institute for women in Korea, and is actively involved in educating women from around the globe. Like Korea University, Ewha is located in Seoul.
Every semester, Ewha offers approximately 200 undergraduate and graduate courses in English. International students are also permitted to take regular Ewha courses (taught in Korean), providing they have a sufficient level of proficiency in Korean. The fall semester at Ewha runs from the first week of September to mid-December. The spring semester runs from the first week of March to mid-June.

Housing
Ewha provides on-campus dormitory housing at the Ewha-Samsung International House. Offering both single and double rooms, residents can easily access the snack bar, gym, computer room, study rooms and kitchenette when needed. Central heating and air conditioning, as well as internet access are offered in each room. Students also have the option of living off-campus.

Average Monthly Living Costs
Students will be required to complete their payments by the first week of each semester. Housing costs range from $920-$1796 (CAD) per semester for a double and single room, respectively. The cost of a meal plan is not included in this price.

"Peace Buddies"
Ewha buddies organize activities to provide students with cultural experiences to make their stay in Seoul more memorable and exciting. Activities may include: welcoming parties; viewing Korean art, dance and music performances; dancing at one of Korea's exciting night clubs; and weekend trips to explore other regions of Korea. Buddies also assist international students with course registration, and provide other helpful survival tips for living in Korea!

Important Via Information
A valid student visa (D-2) is required for all international students. Upon acceptance to university, students will be issued with an acceptance letter and certificate of admission. These documents are needed when applying for the D-2 visa. To find your nearest Korean Embassy or Korea Consul General, please visit: www.mofat.go.kr. Students are responsible for ensuring that they apply for the visa well in advance of their departure.

Korea University Korea UniversityKorea University is located in Seoul, a bustling mecca for culture, finance, politics and entertainment. An array of restaurants, bars, street vendors, and shops are only a five-minute walk from the beautiful Korea University campus.

The undergraduate and graduate student population at KU is approximately 35,000. KU offers several courses in English. For a detailed list of courses available in English, see www.korea.edu

Housing

Korea University offers exchange students the opportunity to reside in their foreign student dormitory, CJ International House.

Living Costs
Depending on the type of accommodation (homestay, hotel, on/off campus dorm, apartment), rates for housing can range from $403-$744 (CAD) per month.
