General

Q. What is the difference between Streaming and Downloadable video?

A.         Streaming Video

Your streaming video will play within seconds of clicking the link, if you have high speed internet.  You can play the video as many times as you like as the link remains on your Moodle site. Alternatively, using Real Player, you can create a library of your classes so that you may review them later without an internet connection.

Downloadable Video

Your downloadable video files must first be downloaded in full, before you can play the contents. The speed of your download will depend on your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and your connection speed. For the fastest results, DLCE recommends that students have high speed internet access. The benefit of downloadable video is  you do not need internet access to play the video once you have downloaded the file. Downloadable video works well for those with a laptop or video iPod who wish to watch the video when they do not have access to the Internet. Once downloaded, you can play the videos as often as you like.
