October 15-17, 2013
For four years we've celebrated writing at the Mount every fall, with a week-long series of events across the campus, exploring and enjoying writing of all sorts by all sorts. In 2013 we've changed our focus slightly, to celebrate publishing -- the goal of so much (though by no means all) of our writing. Browse our program of events. (If you want to print a copy, choose booklet printing in your printer settings for pdfs.)
The highlight of the week will be a one-day conference, generously supported by the President's Special Conference Fund and in collaboration with Humber College, the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association. Join us for this free event, as panels of writers and publishers explore what publishing means in this age of ebooks, crowd-sourcing, publishing on demand, self-publishing, and all the changes that the publishing industry is undergoing. Our special guest will be Cynthia Good, whose Creative Book Publishing program at Humber College is justly renowned for its excellence. Find out about the rest of the participants in the full conference program.
Come for some or all of the sessions. Pre-registration is not required; a light lunch will be available for the first one hundred participants.
Visitors to campus should be warned that parking is difficult midweek. We encourage the use of public transit or carpools. If you bring a car on campus, go up Seton Road and turn right in the Westwood driveway (past the green residence) to park in the Art Landry Building lot. For the conference, a limited number of parking permits will be available from assistants near the parking lot and in the meeting room.
