Service Learning

Welcome!

On Faculty Day, Thursday, September 2, 2010, Mount faculty explored the topic of Service Learning with guest faculty/3M Teaching Fellow, Dr. Angie Thompson, St. F.X. University.

For that event, a Moodle site of information was created which was open only to faculty and guests who RSVP'd to attend Faculty Day.

Further  to Faculty Day, this website was created for all Mount faculty, especially if you did not attend Faculty Day or did not access the Moodle site, as a prelude to our next, follow up event (date t.b.a.)

At the next event, we invite faculty to share: Who's doing what about service learning at the Mount?  What challenges did you encounter? How did you respond to the challenges?  What experiential learning opportuntiies did you create for your students? How did the students reflect upon their experiences and the learning they acquired as a result of their service?

A selection of resources posted to the Moodle site:

A Comprehensive Framework for Community Service-Learning in Canada
Reflection in Higher Education Service-Learning
Canadian Alliance for Community Service Learning
