Mandate/Activities

A resource for faculty and academic departments, the Teaching and Learning Centre is available to consult and collaborate with you...in person or online. 

Our mandate is two-fold: 1) instructional design and 2) instructional (professional) development.

 

The Centre’s programs and services include (but are not limited to):

  • Instructional design consulting and referrals re: program and course development
  • Teaching workshops and seminars
  • Co-ordination of the annual Faculty Day and other special events, e.g., Celebrating Writing at the Mount
  • Assistance with the development of teaching portfolios
  • Assistance with the preparation of teaching award nomination submissions
  • Dissemination of conference and resource information
  • 1:1 consultations with individual faculty about specific teaching and learning-related issues
  • Information on best practices and models for teaching and learning with communications technologies
  • Assistance to faculty wishing to explore unique opportunities for applied research related to teaching and learning (traditional face-to-face and via distance)
  • The Centre's activities are identified and delivered in consultation with faculty and under the advisement of the Senate Committee on Teaching and Learning (SCOTL).  The Centre is affiliated with the department of Distance Learning and Continuing Education at the Mount.

Faculty are welcome to visit the Centre in Seton 313A anytime or contact the Centre Co-ordinator should you have a program/service 'deliverable' or need not included in the above list or a suggestion for a new one!
