In 2005, Senate approved the establishment of a Teaching and Learning Centre at MSVU to serve as a resource for academic departments and individual faculty members. The Centre is a unit of the Department of Distance Learning and Continuing Education and officially opened in July 2006. The Centre is led by the Co-ordinator, Teaching and Learning (Tanya Crawford) who consults with and is advised by the Senate Committee on Teaching and Learning (S.C.O.T.L.). The Co-ordinator is also a member of the Writing Initiatives Committee (W.I.C.).
The Co-ordinator also represents the university externally as a member of the Association of Atlantic Universities' Co-ordinating Committee on Faculty Development; the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education; the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (S.T.L.H.E.) and the STLHE's Educational Developers Caucus.
