What is Document Delivery?

Document Delivery includes requesting books from other Nova Scotia libraries (a.k.a Novanet Express), other libraries across Canada, and internationally (a.k.a Interlibrary Loan) and the requests by distance students for items to be sent to them at their off-campus location

You can use the Novanet Catalogue to locate print materials and have them delivered to the closest participating library using one of our document delivery services Novanet Express. There is no charge and it will take approximately 3 - 5 business days from time of ordering to be delivered to the Novanet institution of your choice. If you have not received an email about your request within 3 - 5 days please check your Novanet account or contact the library at 457-6250.

If you are using the new quick search tool on our website you may order your items using the Relais Intransit delivery service. Please note that the Relais Intransit form provides the extra service of converting your request to an interlibrary loan request if your item is not available among the Novanet Institutions. It can also deliver jouranl articles electronically to your desktop. If the item is outside of the Atlantic region it may take longer than 3 - 5 days to be delivered. If the item is found at a non academic library or outside of Canada there may be a cost. You will be notified of any costs before the item is requested on your behalf.

This service allows faculty and students to order materials that are not available in the Novanet system from other libraries through interlibrary loan. There may be a cost for retrieving these items though most libraries that are part of the Council of Atlantic University Libraries (CAUL) are waiving fees to loan documents and books ordered through ILL.

If the articles or books that you need for your research are not available via MSVU Library's online collections you may request the article through our document delivery form. Please add that you are a distance student in the notes section of the form.  We will do our best to fill all requests although please be aware that some items may not be available through this service.  Read more . . .
