Citation & Refworks

Citation Manager

RefWorks
RefWorks permits you to create a personal database and to manage all your research.  RefWorks allows you to import references from MSVU online articledatabases, and to enter the selected records into your RefWorks database.  When writing papers, you are able to choose from the various citation styles, and RefWorks will partially format a bibliography based on the references in your database.
Please note: You must check you RefWorks generated bibliography for accuracy.
Refworks does some of the work for you but to ensure that your bibliography is correct you must check the style guides listed below.

If you access RefWorks from off-campus, you will be required to enter the MSVU Group Code: RWMSVU

Avoiding Plagiarism

Basic tips:

  • If you quote anyone directly, cite the person properly according to your chosen style.

  • If you are paraphrasing or summarizing any ideas that are not your own- you must cite the source of the idea.

  • Your professor should indicate the method of citation that she or he prefers.

  • Be consistent with your choice of citation style.
