Value Reflections

We aspire to the following values:

Commitment and care is fundamental to all of our work at the Mount, especially regarding student experience. Proud of our rich diversity, we honour all those we serve, as well as ourselves, through our ongoing dedication.

Respect for the intrinsic worth of each and every individual is paramount.

Collaboration, respect, honesty and appreciation of diversity, is fundamental to accomplishing together what could not be achieved alone.

Excellence is achieved through the active pursuit of skills, knowledge, growth and innovation, supports our unwavering quest for the highest good for all.

Compassion underscores all of our decisions and actions, demonstrating our belief in the power of empathy, non-judgment, and acts of kindness.

Integrity is a personal and professional practice. Being responsible and accountable for all our actions, we are honest and fair in all that we do.

**Paraphrased from Student Experience Values Charter

Charter for Compassion

Compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat others as we wish to be treated.

To act or speak violently out of spite, chauvinism, or self-interest, to impoverish, exploit or deny basic rights to anybody, and to incite hatred by denigrating others - even our enemies - is a denial of our common humanity.

We therefore call upon all people:
• To restore compassion to the centre of morality and religion
• To ensure that youth are given accurate and respectful information about other traditions, religions and cultures
• To encourage a positive appreciation of cultural and religious diversity
• To cultivate an informed empathy with the suffering of all human beings - even those regarded as enemies.

Born of our deep interdependence, compassion is essential to human relationships and to a fulfilled humanity. It is the path to enlightenment, and indispensable to the creation of a just economy and a peaceful global community. www.charterforcompassion.org
