March 2012

The Mystics Volleyball team have had a great 2011-2012 season.  In league play the team went 16-2  and earned first place in ACAA  league standings. At the ACAA Championships hosted at STU, the Mount Mystics played the 4th place NSAC Rams and convincingly defeated the Rams 25-7, 23-25,
25-12, 25-11.  Team Captain, Carla Smith was named Player of the Match.  In the ACAA final, the Mount faced 2nd place St. Thomas Tommies.  In front of a packed gymnasium the Mount defeated the STU Tommies 3 straight  25-12, 25-21, 25-21 with Kelcie Levesque named Player of the Match. The win was a total team effort as the whole team has worked extremely hard since the first official practice in September and reached one of their goals which was to win the ACAA Championships.  At the Championships, Kelcie Levesque was named ACAA Player of the Year and Kelcie and Carla Smith made ACAA first team All Conference.

The team is travelling to Vancouver Island University, March 8-10, 2012 to compete in the CCAA National Women’s Volleyball Championships.  We wish them all the best and would like to send special recognition to our two Seniors who are also Captains who are graduating this year: 4th Year Andrea Melanson and Carla Smith who have been cornerstones of our program.

The Mount Saint Vincent Mystics are again the ACAA Women’s Volleyball Champions.  This is the second title in three years, which also captured the crown in 2010.

The top ranked Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics defeated the second ranked and host St. Thomas Tommies in three straight sets to take the 2011-2012 ACAA Women’s Volleyball Championship.  The title was gained in front of a spirited crowd at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym, Fredericton, New Brunswick.  Read more....
