Congratulations to the Mount Mystic's Women's & Men's Basketball Teams
2009-2010 ACAA Basketball Champions

|
The Mystics Women's Basketball Team regained the title that eluded them last year. After closing out the regular season undefeated at 21-0, the Mystics headed into the ACAA Championships confident, hungry and focused. In their first round match up they defeated host NSAC Rams 93-29 and Amy Peveril was the player of the game. This semi-final win set the Mystics up for a rematch of last years final against STU. The Mount went into the half with a 8 point lead but in the second half the lead was stretched to 20 points on solid shooting from the 3pt line and a collaborated effort on the defensive end. The final score was 68-37. Katherine Brien was the player of the game. The Women will now represent the ACAA at the CCAA Championship's from March 18-21 in Kelowna, BC. On the men's side, the Mount showed why they have the best defense in the ACAA holding MTA to only 46 points in the semi-final game and scoring 89. Holland College won the other semi-final game and that set up a finals match up between the two best teams in the ACAA. Holland Colllege was the only team to beat the Mount during the regular season so both teams felt confident going into the final. Through their strong defensive first half the Mount went into the break with a 9 point lead that increased to 15 by the end of the 3rd quarter, at which point Holland College could not overcome. The Mount ended up winning 72-55 and won their 5th straight ACAA Championship title. Sean Boulay was the player of the game. The men will now travel to Calgary to SAIT, Southern Institute of Technology to compete at the National Championships from March 18-21st.
