Congratulations - You're officially a Mount student!

You've applied, been accepted, and paid your deposit. You're coming to the Mount - and we're thrilled you've chosen us as the next step on your educational journey! Whether you are new to university or new to the Mount, congratulations on taking an exciting next step. 

No matter when you'll be starting classes (September, January, or over the summer), there are things you can do to prepare for your arrival. This page is a roadmap to let you know that you're not on this journey alone.

Take a look through the sections below to get familiar with the various parts of campus. You will want to know about student services and plan ahead for housing/finances. You can also contact an academic advisor and learn more about registering for classes.

The Mount has plenty of options when it comes to where to live. With the Metro Transit U-Pass, students are able to travel around Halifax with no problems. 

You should know about:

Investing in your education is an important and exciting decision. Take time to plan your finances and explore the funding options available to you.

Academic Advisors are available to help you pick and schedule your courses. You can also meet with them to review program requirements, and discover courses that are right for you.

Registering for classes requires that you paid your confirmation deposit (once you're accepted). Transfer credit assessments must also be complete if you have prior academic experience. Once you pay your deposit, you will receive an email, containing your Mount username and password. 

Determine the date when registration will become open to you. You can also attend a registration/advising event to register for classes early. If you are a transfer students, you should contact with their faculty advisor. Academic Advising will help you identify the courses you need to graduate, while also helping you plan your course load.

The actual registration process takes place on our student portal, called myMount. You'll use the 'Registration Centre' in myMount to search for your courses, to create a preferred list and to register for classes. Download the step-by-step user guide to help you through the process.

Your Students’ Union is an elected and hired organization of students and staff that work both for, and with, the students of the Mount. They provide you with quality student life, important services, and advocate on your behalf. All of their information is available on the Mount Students website.

Whether you’re arriving in fall, winter, or spring, staff and students are ready to welcome you with a range of exciting and informative activities that will introduce you to campus life.

The Mount uses a platform called myMount - that's where you register for classes, see your course schedule and grades, and much more.

Moodle, on the other hand, is a course management platform used by many professors. Professors can set up and grade quizzes, create assignments, online discussions and more. You can log into Moodle using your username and password; what you see will depend on your courses and the level to which your professors use the technology.
