Janice Landry-2017Mount Saint Vincent University communications instructor and author Janice Landry has been named the 2017 Port Bickerton Lighthouse Artist-in-Residence. Janice’s residency will consist of a two-week term this summer to be spent in the historic lightkeeper’s cottage in Port Bickerton on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore during which she will continue work on her latest project.

“Following an artistic tradition that dates back over one hundred years, the Port Bickerton and Area Planning Association’s Artist-in-Residence Programme . . . is designed to offer a period of quiet seclusion and reflection to established artists working on their craft. It offers a time to re-group from busy schedules with uninterrupted time for creative exploration and experimentation.”

Already the author of four books (one set to launch in the fall of 2017), Janice has been a professional writer, journalist and producer for the past 30 years, including many years as a reporter and anchor with CTV News and today at the helm of her own production company Groundhog Productions.

Janice began teaching at the Mount more than 15 years ago – a role she values for the opportunity to engage with students and support them on their academic and professional journeys.

Said Janice on the news of her award, “I am humbled to be the winner. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the selection committee for this huge honour.”

Congratulations, Janice! We wish you a wonderful residency this summer.
