Caritas Day Highlights

On January 25 the Mount celebrated Caritas Day, a day of caring founded by the Sisters of Charity. A number of events were held throughout the day, including a food drive to support the Mount's Student Food Resource Centre. With the shelves stocked, the day was a success - not because of the number of bags of food, nor the number of sandwiches made and delivered to a local shelter, but in the spirit and pride that came from simply participating.

Inspiration for teaching, advocacy rooted in Portugal

Dr. Fernando Nunes, Assistant Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Study, came to Canada at just eight years old. With only his parents by his side, adapting to Canadian life was 'less than easy' for Fernando, who has since spent decades working to help new Canadians like his own family better adjust to life in Canada.

Caritas Day offers opportunity to get involved, give back

On January 25, members of the Mount community will participate in a day of caring, also known as Caritas Day. After a devastating fire burnt down the Mount's only building on campus in 1951, the Sisters of Charity established the day to remember the tremendous acts of kindness given to the Mount by our neighbours in the Halifax community.

Create, Communicate, Collaborate: Symmetry Public Relations

In most universities you can find groups of students, each with their own distinct interests that make them intricately unique. A group of Mount students have taken hold of their creative visions to create Symmetry Public Relations, the Mount’s first and only entirely online student-led publication. With passion and a punch of creativity, initiative and teamwork, Symmetry has established itself as a source for news, interest stories and editorial content.
