The Garden provides access to plots for community members, students, faculty and staff at the Mount. This provides access to fresh produce and opportunities for recreation and community building on campus.
By providing access to garden space to academic departments on campus the Garden functions as an outdoor classroom for students at the Mount.
The food bank plot, tended by volunteers, grows and donates fresh produce to the Mount Food Bank. The Garden also provides information about, and recipes for using the produce we donate, encouraging students to eat fresh, local produce.
We continually work to improve the production and yield of the Garden, researching and implementing techniques and methods, using only ecologically sustainable methods and responsible stewardship of the land.
The Garden holds various
workshops and events throughout the year, on topics like permaculture, seed saving, preserving, construction methods, and environmental activism in our community.
Through the Curriculum Committee we work to promote a sustainable consciousness in the university curriculum.
We pursue opportunities for mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships with other organizations at the Mount and in our community.
