About the Creative Team
A project of the
Centre for Women in Business at Mount Saint Vincent
University, this profile project is the result of
contributions from five women business owners who took on
the task of capturing the unique story of each of the
clients’ business success in writing and on film. Our thanks
and appreciation goes out to these individuals:
Eleanor Beaton
- writer
Eleanor Beaton is
an award-winning journalist and communications consultant.
Her work has appeared in dozens of publications including
PROFIT, Atlantic Business Magazine, Homemakers and Wish. She
lives in Windsor, NS with her husband.
Susan Corkum-Greek
- writer
For more than a
decade, Susan Corkum-Greek was editor of Nova Scotia’s most
award-winning weekly newspaper, the Lunenburg Progress
Enterprise. During that time, she garnered numerous awards
for news, feature and resource industry writing, as well as
for her photography. In 2002, she left the paper to become
executive director of the Lunenburg Board of Trade. She is
currently on maternity leave.
Sandra Phinney
- writer
Sandra Phinney is
a freelance writer from Yarmouth, NS. Her articles have
appeared in over 50 North American and European
publications. Her stories span the worlds of business,
science, lifestyle, outdoor, travel and tourism to name a
few. She loves to celebrate the accomplishments of Atlantic
Canadians--especially women's stories. This prolific writer
also creates scripts for video productions, teaches
freelance and creative writing workshops, and has penned two
books. In her spare time, Sandra writes poetry, teaches Tai
Chi, and is learning how to play the recorder. Once in a
blue moon, you can find her canoeing in the wilderness.
Shari Tucker -
photographer
Shari Tucker is a
young and talented photographer who takes her work on the
road. She travels extensively within Nova Scotia and into
New Brunswick. In business for only four years, she is
quickly becoming a well known on-location photographer. She
has been published in Photo Life Magazine and has worked
with many successful businesses both big and small. Active
in her community, she supports a number of charities through
a donation of her time and talents, and is currently
president of Junior Chamber International Colchester.
Marie Weeren -
writer
Marie Weeren is
president of 10th Floor Solutions, which specializes in the
writing and editing of public relations materials. She has
undergraduate degrees in public relations and journalism,
and a graduate degree in journalism. Before opening her own
business in 2005, she was a public relations faculty member
at Mount Saint Vincent University. |
